Lorisa Barraza

Instructor

Studio Owner

Lorisa commenced her dance training in 2002 at 4 years old. Beginning with Jazz and later broadening her skill set to hip hop, contemporary, commercial, ballet and lyrical. Having spent 12 years training, Lorisa was recruited as a teacher in 2015 and has loved every moment of teaching since. Lorisa travelled to America in 2016 where she performed a variety of shows in Disneyland including being part of the Disneyland parade. She was also lucky enough to perform at Universal studios and on Hollywood Boulevard as well as partake in workshops from choreographers across the country. Recently Lorisa has up-skilled in circus aerials which has allowed her to combine her knowledge of dance and musicality with strength and precision. Lorisa has competed, placed and won various competitions nation wide. Lorisa's journey with DDS begain in 2018 when she came on board as a hip hop instructor. She officially became the new owner is 2020 and absolutely adores DDS and it's students. Lorisa says she is lucky enough to call DDS her second home!

Cristelle Hucker

Instructor

Cristelle began dancing at the age three at a local dance school in Ararat. She soon began studying Cecchetti ballet, jazz and tap under the guidance of Carole Oliver and Kelly Aykers. At the age of fifteen, Cristelle moved to Melbourne away from her family to attend Christine Walsh’s Australian Conservatoire of Ballet full time classical and contemporary course. In 2003 she began training at Dance Factory in Richmond, focusing on the more musical theatre and commercial side of the dance world successfully graduating with her Diploma of Dance and Performing Arts in 2004 at the age of 18. Since graduating Cristelle has taught ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, funk/hip-hop, singing and drama at a number of different schools. She also enjoyed a career in the arts as a dancer, actor and singer, working for Nickelodeon, the ABC, Showtime Attractions, Channel Seven and many other Melbourne and International Companies. In 2013, Cristelle studied and successfully completed her Associate Status with Cecchetti Ballet Australia. Since then she has gained her Associate Diploma, Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management and most recently, her Licentiate Status in 2017. Cristelle adores teaching and inspiring the next generation of dancers to gain a full understanding of safe dance practice as well as the passion and creativity dance holds. She is always upskilling as a teacher and attends many professional development sessions throughout every year.

Nathan Mclaughlin

Instructor

Starting his dance journey at the age of 12, Nathan started dancing under Brian Nolan in Werribee specializing in Classical Ballet. After Nathan moved to Sunbury he began training under Lainie Farello where he found a passion for Musical Theatre and Theatrical Dance. In 2023, Nathan started training under Robert Sturrock’s guidance. Nathan currently works around Melbourne as a performer having done multiple corporate gigs and character work, and also works as an Acrobatic, Jazz and Contemporary teacher. Nathan recently made his professional debut in Robert Sturrock’s newest show, Jazz Men.

Victoria Riyadi

Instructor

Starting his dance journey at the age of 12, Nathan started dancing under Brian Nolan in Werribee specializing in Classical Ballet. Alana Doman

Instructor

Alana began her dance journey at Derrimut Dance Studio at the age of 5 dreaming of one day becoming a ballerina. Whilst Ballet has been her main passion, Alana has branched out to other genres including hip hop, jazz, tap and lyrical. Alana has competed and placed 1st in a plethora of competions state wide even flying interstate to compete in Nationals representing Derrimut Dance Studio. In 2021 Alana made her debut in Masters of Choreography's show Twisted Tales, Little Red Ridinghood performing as a minion. In 2022 Alana performed in a Mad Hatters Tea Party as Alice in Wonderland. Alana began helping with classes at DDS in 2020 and since then has been learning how to teach dance to all ages under the guidance of Lorisa Barraza. In 2023 Alana was asked to become part of the Derrimut Dance Studio team and is now officially part of the faculty. DDS is lucky to have such an enthusiastic and vibrant member who is adored by all of her students. We can not wait to watch you grow as both a dancer and an educator.

Makayla Celhar

Student Helper

Makayla has been dancing since the age of 2.5. She excels in various genres such as jazz, ballet, lyrical, and acrobatics. Her dedication and hard work in perfecting her technique led her to being invited to assistant teach at DDS in 2023. Makayla is very devoted to her craft. Not only does she excel in her own dance classes but our own READY SET DANCE students love having her in class. In 2023, Makayla completed VCE Dance units 1&2 and aspires to further her dance education. Her passion for teaching children is evident, and she hopes to one day become a primary school teacher.
